Police filed case against unidentified 300-400 persons following the attack in South district Awami League office in city on Friday .
With sequel of internal feud of the party over the nominations of UP chairman candidates, the attack was conducted , party sources said.
SI Md. Badruduzza of Kotwali thana under CMP filed the case with the concerned thana on Friday night .
Kotwali police sources said attack on police force duly equipped with arms, ammo in broad daylight and creation of panics among the public , police lodged the case (caseNo.45).
Mentionable that agitated leaders, workers of the party stormed in AL office in Laldighi area on Friday morning thus ransacked the properties of the office and torned the posters, banners etc centring the meeting of party nominations of UP chairman in Anowara Upazila and Karnaphuli thana of Chittagong south district.
Police openedfire to control the situation , police sourcessaid.
In this clash, ten party workers including 2 police men were injured . Reliable sources said the clash erupted between the supporters of South District President Moslemuddin and the State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed.
A party sources said the supporters of Saifuzzaman chowdhury stormed into the office and conducted vandalism .
To control the situation , police hurled blank fire and lobbed tear gas and the agitated workers hurled brick bats to onduty police forces, eye witnesses source said.
While contacted Anowara upazila AL President Towhidul Hoque chowdhury told that with the consensus of grassroot level leaders and workers, State Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury sent a nominated list duly signed by the president , secretary of concerned Union and Upazila parishad to central committee recently.
But on the other hand , south district President and Secretary arranged interview of the intending candidates on Friday , he added.
District secretary MofizurRahman said defying the six selection board members, state minister sent a list to centre.
As per norms of the selection committee, we tried to finalise the list of the nominees and hence called interviews of aspirants on Friday at party office but the supporters of the minister conducted this unwanted incidents, he said. The incident of occurrence also apprised to the Prime Minister, he added.
