40 kg dead dolphin found in Halda

Another dolphin weighing 40 kg, about 5 feet long, has been recovered from Halda river. Researchers say 30 dead dolphins have been recovered from Halda so far.
The dolphin was rescued from the Madunaghat Barua Para area of the Halda River at 10am on Thursday . It is learned that Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadarghat Naval Police Station Mizanur Rahman went on a regular patrol in Halda and rescued the dead dolphin.
Later, it was taken to Munshihat Naval Police Outpost and handed over to CU Halda River Research Laboratory in the presence of Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Forest Department and IDF representatives.
Halda River Research Laboratory Director Prof. Manjurul Kibria told that the dolphin rescued from Halda has been brought to the laboratory. As the dolphin rotted, it was not possible to identify any signs of injury on the body, sources said.
