Staff Reporter :
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has issued an order asking the authorities concerned to open all the government primary schools with the planning of taking classes for minimum 40 days this year maintaining health guidelines.
However, the Primary and Mass Education Secretary said if it is not possible to take classes after preparations, auto pass would be given in all the classes at primary level or the students would be promoted to upper classes directly.
On the other hand, Board of Inter-Education will give its final decision this week regarding the examinations of other classes following the issuance of directives asking to evaluate the performances of Class VIII students by their respective schools earlier.
Annual examinations of primary and secondary levels usually take place from the second week of November each year and results are announced by the middle of December. But, all the plannings in the education sector have changed due to the onslaught of coronavirus. All the educational institutions have remained closed since
March last and the government could not take any decision yet to open the institutions. PEC and JSC examinations have already been cancelled.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has finalised a number of guidelines on Thursday planning to take classes in primary schools either in October or November, and hold examinations in December if the situation improves. Schools have also been given directives to take necessary preparations for classes and examinations maintaining the health guidelines.
Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Akram Al Hossain said each school will make a re-opening plan. Wearing masks has been made mandatory. Arrangements will also be taken for sanitisers. If any school has large number of students, the authorities will bring them to the school making alternative arrangements.
However, the decision of auto pass will be considered if it is not possible to take classes and examinations this year, he said.
