4 UZs in Gaibandha under national service programme

A total of four upazilas of the district have been brought under national service programme (NSP) of the government for the term of two years.
Department of Youth Development (DYD) under the Ministry of Youth and Sports would implement the programme in Shaghata, Sadullapur, Sundarganj and Gobindaganj upazilas of the district while government of Bangladesh would provide the fund, office sources said.
The main objective of the NSP is to impart training and provide temporary employment to minimum HSC passed educated unemployed youths aged 24-35 in nation building activities.
Primarily, the educated youths of the working areas will be given three months’ training on ten particular modules.
After completion of training, they will be given temporary employment locally for two years against different Government organizations and departments including education, health, agriculture, livestock, social services and relief and rehabilitation offices.
The concerned youths would be able to engage themselves in employment or income generating activities in future days from the experience gathered from two years temporary attachment.
During the training period, every youth will get Tk.100 as training
allowance daily and in employment period, each of the trained youths will be given Tk 200 as service allowance daily, said an official of the department.
Besides, in every month, each of the youths has to deposit Tk 2,000 as saving out of month working Tk 6,000 against his/her bank account which is refundable after completion of two years assignment, he also said.
Deputy Director of DYD Tofayel Ahmed Khan said the eligible candidates of the respective upazilas were invited to apply for the jobs.
In reply to a query the DD said there was no bar and limitation to choose the youths; in a word, a large number of eligible youths including youth women of the upazila would be selected for the programme.
