A court here on Thursday sentenced four people to death and two others to life imprisonment for killing a vegetable trader in Sonargaon upazila in 2007.
The condemned convicts are Ataul Hamid Parag, Alamgir Hossain, Bhuttu Miah and Ratan while the lifers are Golzar Hossain and Shahin. The lifers were tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, the convicts killed vegetable trader Monir Hossain, a resident of Musarchar village in Sonargaon upazila, on
June 18, 2007 when he demanded dues.
Later, the killers dumped the body in a ditch. After examining 17 witnesses, District and Session’s Judge Court-2 Judge Quamrunnahar handed down the verdict.
