Four of a family received burn injuries a fire that originated from a mosquito coil in their house at Bhatara in the city in the wee hours of Monday.
The injured are Shahedul Islam, 65, his wife Nadira Begum, 54, and his two sons Morshed, 26, Jiad, 32. They were admitted to Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Bachchu Miah, Sub-Inspector of DMCH police outpost.
The fire broke out from a mosquito coil on the 1st floor of the five-storey building at midnight, leaving the four injured, said Atiqul Alam Chowdhury, Inspector of Fire Service
and Civil Defence (FSCD).
The family tried to douse the fire by themselves and did not inform the fire service, he said.
