4 new Directors appointed

The government on Monday appointed four new directors for the scam-hit Basic Bank as part of its ongoing efforts to recasting the
board of directors of the state-owned bank. Bank and Financial Institution Division (BFID) of the Finance Ministry issued a circular in this regard on Monday noon. Matiur Rahman, Deputy Secretary of BFID, signed the circular.
The appointed four directors are Hasan Mahmud, fellow of chartered accountant, Raihana Anisa Yusuf Ali, former MD of House Building Finance Corporation, Muzib Ahmed, a faculty of Dhaka University, and Mamun-Al Rashid, Joint Secretary of BFID. On Sunday, the government dissolved the bank’s seven-member board of Basic (Bangladesh Small Industries and Commerce) Bank and appointed Alauddin A Majid chairman of the bank with immediate effect. Abdul Hye Bachchu, the main accused behind the Tk 4,500 crore loan scam of Basic Bank on Friday tendered his resignation letter as Chairman to the Finance Minister AMA Muhith.
The government on Saturday accepted the resignation of Abdul Hye Bachchu.
