The government on Monday suspended four councillors of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) as they have been charged with criminal offences.
The suspended councillors are BNP-backed
Shahjalal Badal, Sirajul Islam and Maksudul Alam Khandaker Khorshed, and Awami League-blessed Shawkat Hashem Shaku.
The local government division issued separate orders suspending the four councillors under section 12 of the City Corporation Act 2009 in the afternoon. The orders signed by deputy secretary of the division Abdur Rauf Miah were sent to the offices of the four councillors and deputy commissioner of Narayanganj in the afternoon.
Earlier, police submitted separate charge sheets to separate courts against them in violence, murder and arms cases in different times.
On November 15, the local government suspended three BNP-backed councillors of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) — — Hanna Sarkar, councillor of ward no 21, Sultan Ahmed Bhuiyan of ward no 22 and Enayet Hossain of ward on 25 — following the charges of criminal offenses against them.
