A total of 20 persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afran Preeti in Shahjahanpur of the capital. Information about their involvement in this murder has been found.
This information was given by Additional Commissioner of DB Mohammad Harun-Or Rashid in a briefing organized at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Intelligence (DB) office in the capital on Sunday.
Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) Motijheel Division arrested four more suspects in Tipu’s murder case on Saturday (July 30) in Motijheel area of the capital.
The four arrested accused are Jatiya Patir (Japa) leader Zuber Alam Khan Rabin, former Chhatra League leader
Mahbubur Rahman Titu, Awami League leader Arifur Rahman Sohel alias Ghatak Sohel and former joint secretary of Motijheel Chhatra League Khairul.
In the briefing, Additional Commissioner Mohammad Haroon-Or Rashid said that the investigation is ongoing on who among the arrested accused had what role in Tipu’s murder. The arrested four accused were sent to the court on Sunday morning with a five-day remand application.
If they are interrogated on remand, more information will be known about the incident,he also added.
