4 killed in two buses collide in Bogura

Four people have been killed in a collision between two buses at Sherpur in Bogura. At least 10 passengers were injured in the incident. They were rescued in critical condition and sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) Hospital.

The accident took place on the Dhaka-Bogura Highway at Dashmile in Garidaha UP of the Upazila around 2:00 am on Friday. However, the names of the victims were not immediately known.

A Dhaka-bound Nabil Paribahan bus collided with Drishti Paribahan bus coming from the opposite direction when it reached the spot on the highway, ?said Ratan Hossain, station officer of Sherpur Fire Service and Civil Defense, on Saturday morning. “Two passengers were killed on the spot. 12 critically injured were rescued and rushed to SZMC Hospital in Bogura. Another two died before reaching the hospital.”

Meanwhile, a 2km-long traffic tailback was created on both sides of the Dhaka-Bogura Highway due to the accident. The traffic was normal after about two hours.

Efforts were being made to find out the identity of the victims. After the accident, the traffic was halted, however, it later became normal with the intervention of the police, said Baniul Anam, in-charge of the Sherpur Highway Police’s Dashmile camp.
