4 killed in Tangail road crash

Four people, including a minor girl, were killed and 13 others injured in separate road accidents in Basail upazila on Tuesday morning. Three people, including a covered van driver, were killed and 11 others injured in a collision between a truck and a covered van on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Koratipara area of the upazila around 7am. Two of the deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, 40, son of Samir Uddin of Pirgachha upazila in Rangpur district and Ajit, 30,son of Kamel, a resident of Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha district. Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Gorai highway police camp, said the accident took place in the area around 7am as the truck collided with the covered van, leaving the latter’s driver dead on the spot and 13 passengers of two vehicles injured. The injured were admitted to Tangail Medical College Hospital where two others succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile, a minor girl was killed and her parents were injured as a covered van hit a motorcycle carrying them on the highway in Korotia Bazar bypass area around 9am. The deceased was identified as Mirza Sadia, 6, daughter of Mirza Arfan, a resident of Bhojdatta village in Ghatail upazila. Sergeant Shah Alam of Elenga highway police camp said the accident took place while they were going to Delduar from Ghatail.–Tangail, Jul 12 (UNB)
