4 killed in 3 days in Chandpur incidents

A young housewife and three others were killed in three days in separate incidents in Chandpur district.
The deceased were identified as Shahnaj Akter,23, of Kochua Upazila, Alamgir Hossain, 38, and Shahjahan,50,both of Shahrasti Upazila and ex-army man -Shahabuddin Sarker, 65, of Faridganj Upazila.
In the first incident occurred in Kochua Upazila, a young housewife Shahnaj Akter,23, wife of an expat Mir Hossain Raju,30, allegedly committed suicide on Sunday at noon by hanging herself secretly from ceiling fan with a scarf in her dwelling house at Satbaria village ‘due to long time family feud’. On getting information, Kochua Thana Police recovered her hanging body in the afternoon and sent the same to Chandpur General Hospital morgue Monday morning for post mortem after a UD case was filed. OC Waliullah confirmed the report.
 In the second incident on Chandpur-Cumilla Regional highway near Mehar Railway Station under Shahrasti Upazila, two people named Alamgir Hossain , 38, and Shahjahan,50, a runner of Shahrasti Upazila Post Office, both hailed from Debkora village in the same Upazila, died when their motorbike suddenly hit a truck parked beside the road on Saturday night. They were returning home by the motorbike from Hajiganj when the accident took place. At once, they both were rushed to Shahrasti Health Complex where Shahjahan was declared dead while Alamgir was admitted .
Later as Alamgir’s condition turned critical, he was referred to Cumilla General Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way- confirmed OC Mohammad Shah Alam, when contacted.
On Friday evening at around 7 pm, a retired army man Shahabuddin Sarker, 66, a resident of Borali village of Faridganj Upazila, was killed when a reckless CNG run auto-rickshaw hit him from behind in front of BRAC office on Faridganj-Roypur Regional Highway at Chotura under Faridganj Upazila. He was walking home after magreb prayer when the accident took place. The driver managed to flee,. Hearing his cries, pedestrians and locals rushed Shahabduddin to Faridganj Health Complex where the on duty doctor Mamun declared him dead. Contacted, Faridganj Thana OC Abdur Rakib confirmed the incident adding that the vehicle was seized and efforts are on to nab the accused absconding taxi driver. A case was filed in this connection.
