4 killed, 9 hurt in Bogura road accident

At least four people have been killed and nine others injured after two buses collided head-on in Sherpur upazila, Bogura.
The incident took place in the upazila’s Doshmail area on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway early Saturday, said witnesses and officials of Fire Service and police.
The accident caused severe traffic gridlock in the area.
Officials said the accident took place at around 2am when a Dhaka-bound bus of Nabil Paribahan collided head-on with a bus of Drishty Paribahan, coming from the opposite direction.
The four deceased, who died following the collision, include driver Rowshan Habib, 35, and supervisor Masud Miah, 27. Identities of the other victims could not be ascertained immediately.
The injured were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Silimpur police outpost Sub-Inspector Abdul Aziz Mandal said: “Two of the injured died Saturday morning. Two died on the spot. Nine others in total are undergoing treatment at the hospital.”
Contacted, Sherpur highway police outpost In-Charge Inspector Baniul Anam said: “The two buses have been seized. Following the accident, traffic on the highway was halted until we brought the situation under control.”
