The university’s Board of Regents took the decision in an emergency meeting yesterday. Naimul Islam Riyad, 4th year student of Environmental Science Department, was stabbed to death on Monday in front of the university’s main entrance.
Riyad’s uncle Rafiqul Islam filed a murder case with the Kotwali police on Tuesday accusing 11 people including the university unit’s BCL President Subrata Biswas and General Secretary SM Shamim Hasan, said Kotwali Police Station SI Zohurul Haque.
Those expelled are university unit BCL President Subrata Biswas, General Secretary SM Shamim Hasan, Environmental Science Department’s first year student Faisal Tanvir and Physical Education Department’s student Azizul Islam.
The university has been closed for an indefinite period after the death incident.
