4 journos assaulted by JnU BCL men

The leaders and the workers of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Jagannath University (JnU) unit, assaulted four journalists on Monday in the conference room of the Vice-Chancellor. They also threatened to kill all the journalists in the university.
The injured were identified as Mahbub Momtazi of Bangladesh Protidin, Al-Amin of Samakal, Sujaul Islam of Naya Diganta, and Imran Ahmed of Banglanews24.com.
According to witnesses, at around 3.00 pm, some BCL activists caught a student named Russel
(Social Welfare Department) labelling as Shibir worker and beat him mercilessly in front of Proctor Dr Ashoke Kumar Shaha. When some journalists entered proctor office to gather information for report, then JnU unit BCL President Sharif said that all journalists are supposed to Shibirmen. Following the incident, journalists of the university resented it. At that time, four journalists, including General Secretary of the JnU Journalists Association, were wounded as some BCL activists namely Rian, Kawsar, Saimon, Kanon and Roni attacked them rudely and abruptly.
In this regard, journalists of the university rushed to the VC office where BCL leaders and activists of JnU unit led by President Shoriful Islam again assaulted them and threatened them of dire consequences.
JnU VC Professor Dr Mizanoor Rahman condemned the rowdism and said that stern action would be taken after an investigation.
