4 journalists assaulted by Sylhet BCL men

At least four photo journalists were seriously injured on the Murari Chand College campus in Sylhet during a clash between two factions of the Chhatra League for establishing supremacy on the campus on Monday.
The injured journalists have been identified as Asmit Nandy Mazumder Aovi of Dainik Bhorer Kagoj, Yousuf Ali of Dainik Samakal, Mithu Das Joy of Dainik Shuvo Pratidin and Kawser Ahmed of a local online portal – came under

the attack when they tried to capture pictures of the clash.
Local sources said, during the Bashanto Utshab programme of the college, the two factions of BCL logged into the clash on the sitting arrangement for the BCL leaders.
Asmit Nandy said, “The BCL activists began a clash around 12 noon and then suddenly started beating us with bare hand when we tried to capture photographs of the clash.”
Akhter Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahporan Police Station, said, “So far, none has been injured during the clash. Police brought the situation under control and additional police have been enforced in the college to avoid further untoward incidents.”
Jedan Al Musa, Deputy Police Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) confirmed the matter to media.
