Four members of a family were injured when they were attacked by the opponents following the stealing of fish from a fish farm in the village Kalia within Dema Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila in Bagerha district. The incident took place on the bank of Kalibunia canal of the Union on Friday morning (at about 7-39 am).
The injured persons are Md. Mofassel Shaikh (45), wife Josna Begum (37), sons Rafikul Islam Shanto (20) and Ashikul Islam Alif (18). The injured persons were recovered from the place of occurrence and admitted to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital by the locals.
Injured Md. Mofassel Shaikh told, I have been cultivated fish in a fish farm consists of about 15 Bigha lands in Kalibunia for years together.
Fish was being stolen from fish farm for the last 10 days. Zargis Molla (30), son of neighbour Ishrat Molla was caught red-handed on several occasions at the time of stealing fish. Though he promised that he would not do the same once again. But he could not maintain the promise. We brought the matter to the knowledge of local UP member Atiar Rahman and the UP member asked Jargis Molla not to do this once again. But this was not taken easily by Zargis Molla and other members of his family and decided to take revenge of it. On Friday morning when my son Ashikul Islam Alif was returning home from the fish farm and reached the place of occurrence at about 7-30 am Zargis Molla and other members of his family attacked him. As a result, my son Alif was severely injured and fell on the ground on the bank the canal Kalibunia. Being informed of the matter when we reached the place of occurrence to recover my son Ishrat Molla (60) and his four sons Zakaria Moll (35), Zargis Molla (30), Amin Molla (25) and Shahin Molla (18) fell on us all on a sudden and attacked us with some home made arms in a pre-planned way. As a result, we all were seriously injured and fell on the ground. Later on, some locals recovered us from there and admitted (us) to the Hospital. In this connection Md. Azizul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model PS told, I have heard about the incident and if we get its authenticity legal action will be taken.
