Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested four alleged drug dealers along with huge Yaba tablets and money from Matuail under Jatrabari Police Station in the city early Monday.
The arrested drug traders are ringleader Helal Uddin, 40, and his accomplices Bony Amin, 50, Nazmul Hasan, 27, and Ibrahim Hawlader, 26.
Sources at the RAB Headquarters said Rab-10 had information that a top Yaba trader along with his syndicate members was
staying at Matuail with a Yaba consignment.
Based on the information, a team of the elite force unit conducted a drive in the area around 4am and arrested the four drug dealers. During the drive, the crime busters recovered 29,800 Yaba tablets, Tk 1,183,329 in cash and 13 mobile phone sets.
During preliminary interrogation, Helal revealed that he had long been involved in illegal drug trading.
He used to bring Yaba consignments to Dhaka from Bangladesh frontier along Myanmar in Cox’s Bazar. Later, his accomplices used to supply those to different areas across the country, said a Rab officer wishing anonymity.
