Four people were held last night in connection with the gang-rape of a woman in Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni on Saturday.
The woman was gang-raped as she was on her way to a local market from her residence around 10:00 am yesterday, said Md Mezbah Uddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Chhagalnaiya Police Station.
The woman lost consciousness following the incident. Later regaining her senses, she informed the matter to her relatives and filed a case with the police station last night in this connection, the OC said.
Immediately after the case filing, police conducted a drive in the area last night and arrested the four accused, he told our local correspondent.
The arrestees are Ekramul Haque Parvez (20), Nezam Uddin (19), Ekram Hossain (19), and Kalim Ullah (20). They are inhabitants of Uttar Mandira village in the upazila.
Today, the arrestees were produced before a court in Feni where they made confessional statements. Later, the court sent them to jail, the OC further said.
