Four persons, including one bullet injuried, were arrested after a “gunfight” with Detective Branch (DB) of police at Nandipara in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area on Friday.
The injured was identified as Khorshed Alam alias Pagla Sohel, 30, Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch (East) Khandoker Nurunnabi told the media.
The other accused have been identified as Rakib, Harun and Shawpon. The police team also recovered three pistols and 12 rounds of bullet from the spot.
Acting on a tip-off that miscreants were preparing
to grab a piece of land and commit robbery at Nandipara. Just then, a DB team conducted a drive around 4:00am, he said.
Sensing their presence, the miscreants opened fire at police, prompting a retaliation that triggered a gunfight. At one stage, Khorshed sustained bullet injuries in his legs. The others were arrested from the spot.
Khorshed was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Khorshed was wanted in several cases filed with different police stations, the DB officer said.
