UNB, Netrakona :
A court here on Tuesday sentenced two pairs of siblings to life term imprisonment for killing a man in Kalmakanda upazila in 2001.
The convicts are Babul and his brother Shafiqul, sons of late Samed Ali, and Abdul Malek and his brother Chanfar, sons of late Nabi Hossain of Charulia village in the upazila.
The court also fined them Tk 50,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, the convicts chopped Abdur Rashid to death at the village on May 5, 2001.
Later, the victim’s wife, Kamrun Nahar, filed a case against five people in this connection.
Police submitted a charge-sheet to the court against the five on April 7, 2002.
Meanwhile, another accused, Zabbar, died during the trial of the case. After examining seven witnesses and evidence the Judge handed down the verdict.
