A court in Chittagong convicted four kidnappers for demanding ransom following the abduction of one nine years old child with life term and penalty of Tk. 50 thousands each.
Women and Child Repression Tribunal-2 Judge Md. Zakir Hossain announced this verdict yesterday .
The convicted are Abdur Razzak, Md. Nasir, Eshak alias Giasuddin and Md. Zafar. Among the convicts, Razzak and Nasir in jail custody and others two remained absconding. Court sources said one child named Sadnan Jaman , son of Abdul Motaleb of Middle Jahanbad under Sitakunda upazila was abducted on March 25, 2011 andtook him away in remote hills of the upazila and demanded ransom of Tk.50 lakh from his parent.
In this connection, a c ase had been lodged with the Sitakunda thana on next day of abduction. Police in vigorous drive in the dens of the abductors managed to recover the child in good health .
Police after investigation submitted charges before the court on July 4, 2012 . After taking depositions of 11 witnesses, the Tribunal convicted the abductors under section 8 of Women and Child Repression Act , court sources said.
