Md Mahabub Alam :
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) found evidence that four officials of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) have accumulated wealth worth Tk 7 crore beyond their known sources of income in and outside the city.
ACC has already sent them notices asking their wealth statements.
The notices have been sent to EPB’s Deputy Directors Altaf Hossain Bhuiyan and Zakir Hossain, and Assistant
Directors Zahirul Islam and Tajul Islam.
A case may be filed against the alleged accused persons soon, sources in the ACC said.
But the four officials stated in an online news agency recently that they have not earned any wealth dishonestly.
The ACC, however, did not send any notice to some other EPB officials, who were also suspected guilty, as it did not find any wealth beyond their known sources of income.
EPB Directors Abdur Rouf and Abdul Moyen, former Deputy Director Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, Deputy Director Samsuddin Ahmed, Assistant Director Abu Mokhlesh Alamgir and Administrative Officer Abdul Halim have been relieved of the charges.
ACC began an inquiry into the irregularities against 11 officers of the EPB committed during the Dhaka International Trade Fair- 2011 and 2012.
