At least four cocktails were exploded in front of the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the city on Sunday afternoon, prior to a rally of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the BNP.
Sabujbag Thana unit of the JCD arranged the rally at Bhashani Auditorium, opposite the BNP office. BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attended the rally as the chief guest.
Officer-in-charge of Paltan Thana Murshed Alam said that four cocktails were exploded at about 3:00 PM in front of the BNP office when the JCD men were gathering there
to join the rally. However, none was injured or arrested. After the blast, the supporters and the leaders of the newly formed committee of the JCD brought out a brief procession in the area and chanted slogans against the rebel JCD men.
Earlier, several other cocktails were also exploded in front of the office last month during a demonstration by the post-deprived leaders and workers of the JCD.
The post-deprived JCD men have been continuing their protest demanding cancellation of the new committee of the organisation since its announcement. On October 14, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia approved a 201-member partial committee of the organisation with Rajib Ahsan as President and Akramul Hasan General Secretary.
