Four cases were filed with the city’s Chawkbazar thana in connection with the recovery of local weapons and handmade explosives from Chittagong College dormitories where dominated by Islami Chhatra Shibir. The cases filed on Thursday night accusing 88 Islami Chhatra Shibir activists naming 33 individuals.
Mohiuddin Masud, a fourth grade employee of Suhrawardy hall among those identified has been arrested, said OC Atik Ahmed Chowdhury.A joint team of Detective Branch (DB), Kotwali and Chawkbazar thana police raided Suhrawardy and Sher-e-Bangla dormitories, largely dominated by Islami Chhatra Shibir on Thursday noon.Police recovered six hand petrol bombs, 16 double-edged knives, nearly three kilograms of gunpowder, 25 crackers, 25 small containers, glass bottles, tape and other bomb-making ingredients, said Ahmed Chowdhury.
Two Chakbazar thana Sub Inspectors Mohammad Alamgir and Yunus Meah filed the four cases at night.
