Police have arrested four people and seized 160 stolen mobile sets of various brands from their possession in Chattogram.
The arrestees are : Dost Mohammad Manik, 54, son of late Dela Mia of Nodimpur area under Rauzan upazila, Khalilur Rahman, 31, son of Kabir Ahmed of Chhodaha area of Satkania upazila, Sahedul Islam, son of Harunur Rashid of Boli Bari of Amirabad under Lohagara upazila and Md Sohel Rana, 30, son of Md Jamal Unnin of Fozorkandi area of Cumilla.
This was disclosed at a press conference at the office of CMP Deputy Commissioner (South) at Cheragi Pahar in Chattogram on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Briefing the newsmen CMP Deputy Commis-ioner (South) SM Mehedi said that after snatching the sets from different areas of the city the snatchers brought the cellphones to the mobile market where stolen mobile phones are sold.
The law enforcers conducting raid at one such shop at Reazuddin Bazar in the port city recovered the stolen mobiles on Monday night after being informed that a big syndicate of buyers and sellers of stolen cell phones named ‘Uncle-Nephew Syndicate’ is involved with the nuisance.

Police informed that the mobile phones stolen or snatched away from any part of the city, are sold to the syndicate members at Reazuddin Bazar. The snatchers come to the fixed shops to sell the snatched and stolen cell phones and a gang is making much profit by purchasing the snatched mobiles.
Dost Mohammad and his nephew Khorshed Alam, one of the accomplices of Zahidul Islam Alo who was killed in gunfight with Rab, are leading the stolen mobile gang. Police informed that Khorshed Alam, 35, another member of the syndicate, remained absconding.
