A total of 4.56 lakh dose corona vaccine has reached Chattogram. These vaccines, brought in 36 cartons, have been kept in the EPI store of the Civil Surgeon’s Office while maintaining the cold chain.
The vaccines arrived at the Chattogram Civil Surgeon’s Office at 8am on Sunday.
“The vaccine will be provided among the people in the port city and districts in Chattogram divisions,” said Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi while receiving the jabs.
He said the vaccination programme will be conducted in the same manner as the EPI programme. Therefore, the training of vaccinators has started from January 30 in the metropolis. Upazila level training activities will start from February 1. “The vaccination programme may start from February 8,” he added. The Civil Surgeon said that a total of 42 teams will be engaged in vaccination drive. Each team will consist of 2 midwives, staff nurses or senior staff nurses and 4 volunteers as vaccinators.
According to the Civil Surgeon’s Office, vaccination activities will be conducted in the metropolitan area under the supervision of the City Corporation and at the upazila level under the supervision of UNO. Vaccines will be provided at the metropolitan and upazila level from EPI stores based on the registration of vaccine recipients.
Initially, 15 vaccination centers in urban areas have been finalized by the CCC Corona Vaccine Provisioning Committee.
As per the decision of the committee, corona vaccination activities will be carried out in these 15 centers of the city. Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that corona vaccine will be given in 14 upazila health complexes at the upazila level.
