The 3rd version of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will kick off through a grand opening ceremony on November 20 next.
Member secretary of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) governing council Ismail Haider Mallick announced this at a press conference at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) on Wednesday.
However, the main battle of the six-team franchise-based tournament will begin on November 22 and end on December 15.
The six participating teams in the tournament are Dhaka Dynamites, Chittagong Vikings, Comilla Victorians, Barisal Bulls, Sylhet and Rangpur Riders.
The matches of the tournament will be played at the SBNCS and Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
However, the fixtures of the tournament have not been finalised yet.
The opening match is scheduled to start at 5pm while the 2nd match on the opening day will begin at 6:45 pm. Two matches will be held in each day.
Prior to the tournament, a new kind of auction ‘Player By Choice’ will be held on October 26.
According to the latest player registration process, a total of 318 cricketers are available for auction from all four categories. Of them, 122 are local cricketers with six icons and 16 grade-1 players while foreign players are 196, including 19 grade-1 players.
Every franchise can register 11 local players and 12 foreign players from any category while one icon cricketer has been selected for each franchise.
Each franchise can take 12 foreign players but can field maximum four of them in a match.
