Another journalist has been infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the country’s total cases to 39.
The newly infected journalist works with the Daily Pratidiner Sangbad.
The Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) director professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora confirmed on wednesday night.
The media worker alleged that he repeateldy tried to contact with IEDCR over phone to complain of coronavirus symptoms but could not reach.
Later, the government agency conducted test of the newsman’s sample following other journailsts’ urge.However, eight out of the coronavirus-positive mediamen recovered.
Bangladesh on March 8 recorded its first cases of COVID-19, and since then it has been seeing significant rise in both infections and deaths.
As of Thursday, 7,667 people were infected with the virus and died 168 in the country.
