A total of 38 Bangladeshis lost their lives in border killing in the year 2013, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials announced on Thursday.
Director General of BGB, Major General Aziz Ahmed, unveiled the figure at a press conference held in Jessore on the day.
Border killings by BSF have remained an issue with India since long. Several attempts have been taken in the past to redeem the killing along the borders.
A director general level meeting was held between BGB and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Dhaka regarding the issue in September last year. In the conference, the official said that BGB was constructing 65 tin-shed buildings for rehabilitation of minorities in Jessore. The houses are expected to be completed by mid-March, the director general said.
Regional Commander of Jessore Brigadier General Shamsur Rahman and the 26th BGB Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Matiur Rahman were present.
