34 deaths of coronavirus, 3,504 infected in 24 hours in BD

Bangladesh on Saturday registered more 34 deaths of Covid-19 in the span of 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
“The death toll now stands at 1,695 and the death rate at 1.27 percent,” Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, said in a press briefing.
She said that more 3,504 people have tested positive of the disease in the same span.
“With this, the current infection rate is 23.12 percent and the total number of infections in the country is 1,33,978,” the DGHS official said.
The total infection rate so far stands at 18.81 percent, she added.
Dr. Sultana said, total 15,157 samples were tested in 58 laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 1,185 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the same period, the DGHS said.
The total number of recoveries has reached 54,318 and the current recovery rate is 40.54 percent, she added.
Bangladesh on March 8 reported its first cases of infection of the virus and registered its first death on March 18.
