Three new cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 have been detected in Bangladesh, taking the total tally to 33 till today, according to GISAID, the global database for genomic data on the coronavirus.
Two of the new patients infected with Omicron are Indian nationals and another local, according to a press release from the Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) yesterday.
The samples were collected from the patients on January 5 and 2, and December 30, according to the data on the GISAID website today.
On December 9, the country’s first two Omicron cases were reported.
