32 players win first round matches in Women’s Chess

The WALTON 37th National Women’s Chess Competition began on Sunday at Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) hall-room of National Sports Council old building in the city.
Altogether 32 players won their first round games and earned maximum point. In first round games: WIM Liza beat Wadifa Ahmed, WFM Tanima beat Shanjida Shakib, WFM Bably beat Urbana Chowdhury, WIM Rani Hamid beat Nazma Akter, WFM Shirin beat Srabonti Akter Jerin, WFM Eva beat Sabrina Jahan Shejoti, WFM Zakia got walk-over against Shreeyoshi Banik, Dilara Jahan Nupur beat Mona Shammi Akter, Jahanara Haque beat Mst. Rabeya Akter, Protiva Talukder beat Jannatul Ferdous Lamia, Farjana Hossain beat Kazi Kamrun Nahar, Kiswara Shajrin Evana beat Aisha Siddika, Afrin Jahan Munia beat Feroza Begum, Tanzina Akter Tani beat Kazi Apurba and Noshin Anjum beat Maksuda Begum.
A total of 65 players from Dhaka and different districts across the country are taking part in the meet, sponsored by Walton Group and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF).
The competition will be held in single league basis system with IWM Rani Hamid and Shamima Akter Liza along with last year’s champion FM Zakia Sultana, Tonima Parvin, Afroza Khanom Babli and national junior girls’ champion Noshin Anjumara are competing in the meet.
The event is being held in nine round Swiss league system.
The champion will receive Taka 25,000 while the runners-up will get Taka 20,000. The third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh to tenth position finishers will have Taka, 15,000, Taka 10,000 Taka 7,000, Taka 5,000, and Taka 3,000 respectively.
