Health Minister Md Zahid Malik said, the 312 Bangladeshi citizens who were evacuated from China’s Wuhan, the epicentre of a novel coronavirus outbreak, will return to their residences on Saturday.
He came up with the information at an event in the capital on Thursday.
“They will complete two weeks of quarantine today 14. We’ll allow them to go home on the 15th following tests. All of them are doing well. There are no issues,” said Health Minister.
It may be mentioned that the novel coronavirus was first detected in China’s Hubei province in December last year.
It has since infected thousands of people, spreading to many countries across the world.
Meanwhile, the Singapore returnee passengers have been screening separately at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital amid coronavirus panic in the country.
There has also been set up a separate immigration booth for the passengers from Singapore like China returnees.
Two Bangladeshis have already been infected with the coronavirus in Singapore. After that, security has been strengthened in Bangladesh. Sources said, “Singapore returnees have been screening keeping them in a separate queue, though the passengers from all flights screened as per the government decision.”
Dr Shahriar Sazzad, chief health officer at the airport, said the Singapore returnees have been screening separately as part of security.
