Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested two persons for murdering two youths at Sholosohor on Monday in the port city.
The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Jahangir Alam, 28, was arrested from the city’s Panchlaish area on Tuesday afternoon, and Mohammad Shah Alam, arrested from Khagrachari area this morning, Mohammad Quamruzzaman, Assistant Commissioner (north) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) said today.
Police also detained two other youths for interrogation suspected to involve the incident. The bodies were recovered from a septic tank of an under-construction building at Sholosohor no -2 gate on Monday.
Police said Jahangir, a ‘professional mugger’, is an accused in the case filed over the murders. Shah Alam, a friend of victims, both confessed to their involvement in the murder.
Jahangir revealed some information about the killings during preliminary interrogation, the police official said.
Kamrul Islam, 18, a Higher Secondary Certificate examination candidate from the Omar Gani MES College and his friend Forkan Uddin, 19, a readymade garment worker.
Kamrul’s father filed a case with Khulshi thana on Tuesday against nine people and some anonymous people.
Rapist gets life-term : A court in Chittagong convicted a youth with life term for raping a dump handicapped girl and fined Tk.50 thousand in the same verdict.
The convicted youth named Linkon Das of Rangunia upazila on August 17, 2008 last. Women and Child Repression Tribunal -1 judge Md. Rezaul Karim a nnounced this verdict. Court sources said daughter of Gouraga Das , dump handicapped juvenile was raped by a neighbour Linkon Das forcefully entering in Gourga Das’s residence at Mohra Islam colony in city in absence of her parent on August 17, 2008. Later father of the handicapped juvenile filed a rape case before the Chandgaon thana in city on August 28, 2008. After taking depositions of five witnesses , court declared this verdict on Wednesday last.
