A court here on Monday sent 31 BNP leaders and activists, including former acting mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Joynal Abedin, to jail in a violence case.
Metropolitan Session’s Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha passed the order when they surrendered before his court seeking bail in the case, said public prosecutor Fakhruddin Chowdhury.
He said the 31 BNP men were on bail obtained from the High Court in the case filed with Sadarghat Police Station.
They surrendered before the trial court on expiry of their HC bail.
