Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Naogaon Government College unit, distributed 3,000 blankets among the poor people in the town on Saturday.
Md Abdul Malek, MP, addressed the distribution function as the chief guest on the college premises.
Principal of the College SM Zillur Rahman and General Secretary of District Unit Chhatra League Biman Kumar Rao attended the function, among others.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Some 49 students of Silver Jubilee Government Primary School at Kumarpara area in Rajshahi city received blankets free of cost yesterday.
Rotary Club of Metropolitan Rajshahi (RCMR) donated the blankets with the main thrust of lessening their sufferings caused by cold bite together with encouraging them towards institutional learning.
School Managing Committee President Towfiqur Rahman, Headmaster Ambia Ferdousi Khanom, RCMR President AZM Shafiqur Rahman, president-elect Abdus Samad, Rtn Shahnaj Parvin Shilpi, Rtn Saidul Haque and Rtn Prodip Mridha were present at the distribution ceremony held in the school premises.
Speaking on the occasion, the discussants unanimously called for proper support from the community and other philanthropists and volunteer organizations for making the primary schools more effective and meaningful.
Optimum people’s initiative could be the vital means of boosting students’ enrollment together with preventing dropout in the schools which is crucial for enriching the list of skilled human resources.
They termed the students as future of the nation so all of us should stand beside them for transforming the students into worthy citizens.
They mentioned that the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for bringing quality improvement in primary education.
So, the teachers, parents and others concerned should supplement the government endeavor as a whole.
