The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday heard partial hearing on framing charge against four persons in the 30-year old Sagira Morshed murder case.
Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the court conducted the hearing on Thursday. Defence lawyer Ehsanul Haque Samaji of three accused conducted the discharge hearing. These accused persons are Dr Hasan Ali Chowdhury, brother-in-law (husband’s elder brother) of victim Sagira Morshed, his wife Sayedatul Mahmuda alias Shaheen, and Hasan Ali’s brother-in-law Anas Mahmud alias Rezwan.
After the hearing of Thursday, the court fixed December 2 for next charge hearing in the case.
On January 14, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Inspector Md Rafiqul Islam submitted the 309-page charge sheet of the case to the CMM Court while Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansary accepted the charge sheet and sent the case to the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court for trial.
The other accused is the three accused persons’ hired killer Maruf Reza. Earlier, the four accused made confessional statements narrating the incident under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
