At least 30 people, including women, were injured in a two-party clash that took place at Sunamganj’s Chattak area. 12 seriously injured were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Hospital.
The clash took place on Saturday morning in the village of Nanashree in the Charmahalla Union of the upazila.
Local sources said that on Friday afternoon, the son of the late Afiz Ali, Nizam uddin and The Son of Dumai Mia, had a conversation and fight over a football game in the village.
Although the locals were quick to settle the matter, people of both sides engaged in bloody clashes on Saturday morning. In the nearly hour-long clash, 30 people were injured on both sides, including women.
Seriously injured Ujjal Mia (26), Juned Mia (22), Zuber (19), Chamir (22), Matchir Ali (45), Amjad Ali (25), Sayed (22), Chan Mia (80), Saifur Rahman (18), Nizam Uddin (35), Khudija Begum (60) and Atauur Rahman (34) have been admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.Saiful (17), Rukshana Begum (20), Milon (17), Jahedur (16), Sarwar Rahman (30), Imad Uddin (17), Aminur Rahman (18), Chandali (70), Alima Begum (35). Others have been admitted to Katik Hospital and treated.
Police visited the scene at the Zawia Investigation Center on Saturday afternoon.
