3 UZs come under CWASA project: 120 km pipeline already installed

11,000 residential consumers of Karnafuli-Patiya and Anwara Upazila Sadar of south Chattogram are coming under Chittagong WASA Vandaljuri Water Supply Project. For the first time, 11,000 consumers of these three upazilas are going to get WASA supplied water. Chittagong WASA authorities have already completed the work of laying 120 km pipeline to supply water to the residents of Karnafuli-Patiy a and Anwara Upazila Sadar. Now the work of Anwar’s Korean EPZ and reservoir and pump house in Patiya is underway, said the project director.
According to the project director, a total of 70,000 people including 6,000 residential customers in Patia poura Sadar, 2,000 customers in Anwara Upazila Sadar and 1,000 customers in Charpatharghata area of Karnafuli Upazila are coming under WASA Vandaljuri Water Supply Project.
Water will be available from the Vandaljuri water supply project by the end of next year. We are working towards this goal. Of the 130 km pipeline of the entire project, 120 km of pipeline has been completed. Treatment plant is under construction at Vandaljuri project area. 50 percent of the work has been completed.

The work of laying 25 km distribution line from Vandaljuri project area of Boalkhali to Patiya has been completed and the work of 70 km service line in Patiya municipality and surrounding areas has also been completed.
Meanwhile, work on a 35-kilometer pipeline from Patiya Bypass to Anwara Korean EPZ, passing Karnafuli CDA bypassing S Alam Industrial Factory, has also been completed, said project director engineer Mahbubub Ul Alam. He also said that a total of 15 km of pipeline from Moizjartek to Y junction, on the other hand from Kalarpole to Boalkhali military pole is yet to be constructed.The total cost (including land acquisition) including project cost of Tk 1,195 crore has been estimated at Tk 1,995 crore.
