3 to die for killing man in Nilphamari

Additional district and session judge court of Nilphamari sentenced three persons to death on Tuesday for killing a young man from Domar upazila in the district.
The accused who were awarded death penalty are Md Kamruzzaman Sebu (28), son of Md Abdul Hakim Muhuri from Bagdokra village, Md Sirajul Islam Nader (29), son of Ansar Ali Mondol from Naodabox village and Boddhodev Roy Boiddyo (30), son of Late Prosonno Kumar Ghosh from village Sathor Narayon. All were from Domar upazila.
Of the three accused, Md Sirajul Islam Nader and Buddhodev Roy are absconding since the date of committing the crime.
The prosecution in a brief is that the accused in joint collaboration with each other called the victim Rakibul Hasan Pappu, son of Rezaul Huq Belal from Chikonmati Dhonipara village of Domar municipality on mobile phone in the afternoon of 17 July 2013 asking him to go to a spot at Mahigang Bazaar about five kilometers from the municipality.
When the victim reached there riding a motorbike, the accused tactfully took him to a lonely place and tried to slaughter him with a knife leaving him critically injured.
The killers then left the spot with the victim’s motorbike.
Hearing the groaning of the victim, locals took him to a private clinic of the municipality.
Later, he was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment, but he succumbed to his injury on way to Rangpur.
Before death, the victim mentioned the names of the killers to his relatives and friends, who were attending him.
Regarding the matter, uncle of the victim Md Mokdumul Huq Channu filed a case with Domar police station, accusing the three persons the following day.
Police managed to arrest one of the accused Md Kamruzzaman Sebu within couple of days.
The investigation officer of the case Sub-Inspector Md Shahinur Islam submitted the charge sheet in a court in due time.
The Additional District and Session Judge Md Mahbubul Alam after verifying the witnesses and evidences pronounced the verdict of death sentence for all the three accused.
At the time of giving the verdict, No-1 accused Md Kamruzzaman Sebu was present in the dock.
The accused were, however, allowed to appeal before higher court within seven days from the date of pronouncing the verdict.
