UNB, Lalmonirhat :
Three teenagers of a Sishu Paribar reportedly tried to kill themselves by drinking toilet cleaner in the district town on Tuesday.
The trio is aged between 14 and 15 years. All of them are students of Kobi Sheikh Fazlal Karim High School and members of a Shishu Paribar run by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Trust.
Hospital and the Paribar sources said the girls were rescued from their room in critical condition after they tried to commit suicide around noon.
They were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital around 3:30pm.
However, it is unclear why they apparently tried to take their lives.
ATM Bashir Uddin, deputy-supervisor of the Sishu Paribar, said their condition was serious but did not say anything about the reason for the alleged suicide bid.
Shafiul Arif, deputy commissioner of Lalmonirhat and also president of the Shishu Paribar managing committee, said they were trying to find out the reason.
“We’ve been initially told that they had a quarrel among themselves,” he said. “The actual reason will be known after they recover.”
