Three students of Class VIII of a local school reportedly went missing in Chowgachha of Jessore district on Sunday afternoon.
The classmates were identified as Ashraful Islam alias Shaon, 13, son of Shafiqul Islam; Tanvir Ahmed alias Tonmoy, 13, son of Ariful Islam Nayan; and Ashraful Islam alias Nayan, 13, son of Abdul Malek.
The missing boys are students of Shahdad Pilot High School in Chowgacha.
The families of the students filed a General Diary with the police station on Sunday night after they fail to trace the possession of the students in their possible places, police said.
According to General Diary, Ashraful Islam alias Shaon went out from the house in the name of private class around 2:30pm and he did not come back at their rented residence till 9:00 pm which created a panic among the family members. Shaon left the house with cold protective extra clothes, four books and money in cash around Tk 9,000.
At one stage, they contacted with the families of Tanvir Ahmed alias Tonmoy and Ashraful Islam alias Nayan. Members of the two other families also could not find them.
Tonmoy’s mother Hafeza Akter Sima told The New Nation on Monday evening that they were trying to trace them in the possible places.
She expressed her frustration that somebody might have misguided the three friends.
Chowgachha Police Station Sub-Inspector Anwarul Azim said that they might have gone to visit some tourist spots.
They kept the tour secret to families in the fear of denial of the proposal to the visit, the police official said.
“We are trying to trace them out and the missing information was sent to the all police stations across the country,” the SI said.
