Three poachers were arrested along with traps used for catching deer by the forest guards from Charputia area under Chandpai Forest Range in the Eastern Division of Sundarbans in Bagerhat district at Sunday mid night, according to a delayed report received here.
The arrested persons are Sayed Ali (45), son of one Mofakkor Ali, Hazrat Ali (43), son of one Mahbub Shaikh and Faruk Shaikh (40), son of one Peer Ali. They all hail from Khulna district.
Enamul Haq (ACF), Ranger of Chandpai Forest Range told, acting on secret information the Smart Team of the forest guards (of the range) raided Charputia area at Sunday mid night. At that time the smart team found a boat in a canal there and afterwards they also noticed a trap placed in a position for catching deer. But sensing the appearance of the forest guards the poachers tried to flee away in the deep forest. But the forest guards chased and arrested them. Later the forest guards searched the boat and recovered a-330 feet long trap and some devices used for slaughtering the deer and preparing its flesh cooking.
