Three persons were picked up from the Supreme Court premises on Thursday for supplying and selling forged judicial stamps, better known as court fees, which are used in filing cases with the courts.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police along with the SC officials caught them red handed after examining the forged court fees by the machines.
The detained persons are Delwar Hossain (37), his brother Md Monir Hossain (40), hailing from Shariatpur’s Jajcera, and Zakir Hossain (30) hailing from Cumilla’s Titas, said High Court Registrar Md Golam Rabbani.
He said an appropriate legal action will be taken against them as the syndicate has been involved with such forgery to deprive the state from revenue worth crores of Tk for several years.
Golam Rabbani said in an average around 1,000 petitions are filed with the Appellate and High Court Divisions on every working day and forged judicial stamps are being used in most of the petitions.
“Today (Thursday), 21 petitions were examined by the machines, which were bought on Wednesday, and 20 of the petitions have been found to have used the forged court fees,” he said, adding that court fees worth Tk 2 to Tk 5,000.
