3 Noakhali war crimes accused sent to jail

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Tuesday sent three war crimes accused of Noakhali to Dhaka Central Jail on Tuesday.
The accused-Amir Ahmed alias Amir Ali Razakar, 70, M Yusuf and Joynul Abedin hailing from Noakhali district had been arrested for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
Prosecutor Zahid Imam said a three-member bench of ICT, led by Justice Anwarul Haq, passed the order to send the trio to jail when they were produced before the tribunal around 11.30am.
The tribunal also fixed October 24 as the next date of hearing. According to the prosecution, Amir Ali along with one Kalam and Joynal had killed a person and kidnapped another one from Paschim Karimpur and Debipur villages in Sudharampur upazila on September 13 during the Liberation War.
Nine people had got killed in the hands of Amir Ali, Yusuf and one Mansur at three villages in the upazila on September 13 in 1971.
Earlier, on October 5, police arrested Amir Ali and Joynul Abedin from Noakhali district town and M Yusuf from Laxmipur district several hours after the tribunal had issued the arrest warrants against five Noakhali war crimes suspects.
