3 lawyers denied bail over `terror financing`

UNB, Chittagong :A court here on Thursday turned down the bail of the three lawyers arrested in connection with ‘terror financing’.The accused are: Barrister Shakila Farzana, 39, daughter of BNP leader and former whip Syed Wahidul Alam, adv Hasanuzzaman Liton, 30, hailing from Kushtia and a resident of Mirpur-10, and adv Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon, 25.Judge of Chittagong District and Session Judges’ court SM Nurul Huda passed the order after hearing on separate bail petitions filed by their lawyer adv Abdus Sattar.On August 19, a Chittagong court put the three lawyers on a four-day remand each in case filed a day after their arrest from the capital’s Dhanmondi area on charge of terror financing.They were shown arrested in an arms case filed in connection with arms recovery from Latmoni hill in Banshkhali upazila and another case filed with Hathazari Police Station under anti-terrorism Act.The three lawyers reportedly made their confessional statements before a court here two times.
