3 killed by lightning in Sherpur, Sylhet

A schoolboy and his father were killed and two others injured by a lightning in Sunamganj on Wednesday afternoon.
The victims are Antar Chowdhury, a six-year-old nursery class student of Child Care Kindergarten, and his father Safizur Rahman Chowdhury of village Kashipur at Jamalganj upazila, police said.
Locals said that Safizur Rahman was returning home with his son Antar and daughter Nawrin Chowdhury, 9, from the school at about 11:30am when a lightning struck them, leaving them critically injured.
Jamalganj police officer-in-charge Saiful Alam confirmed New Age of the incident and said that local people took the injured to the upazila health complex, but the doctor declared Antar dead on arrival to the health complex.
The officer added that Safizur died on the way to a Sylhet hospital.
Sherpur Correspondent adds: Lightning killed a farmer at Kharia Kazirchar union in Sreebardi upazila of Sherpur district on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Kashem Mia (40) son of Md Abul Hossain at Ruper Para in Sreebardi upazila of the district.
Police and local sources said Kashem Mia went to field to bring cows at home in the evening. Suddenly a horrible sound and he was attacked by thunderbolt. Kashem Ali fell down on ground and wounded seriously. People hurriedly tried to take him to local Langar para health clinic but he died on the way.
Officer in charge of Sreebardi thana Md Ruhul Amin confirmed about it.
