Three people were killed four others sustained injuries in a road accident in Monshartak area on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway under Patiya upazila of the district on Thursday night.
Two of the victims were Abu Bakar, 50, and Subrata Talukdar, 30. The identity of another one aged about 34 could not confirm immediately.
Zillur Rahman, in-Charge of Patiya Highway police, said the accident occurred as a Patiya-bound human hauler hit a road side tree after it’s driver lost control over steering in Badamtola area of Monshartek around 11.30 pm. Local people rescued the injured passengers from inside the damaged vehicle.
Two of them died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) while another died at BGC Trust Hospital under Patiya upazila while receiving treatment.
The injured four persons including the vehicle’s driver are being treated at CMCH, said Nayek Abdul Hamid of CMCH police out post.
