3 JMB men placed on 2-day remand

A Chittagong court on Thursday granted two-day remand to three members of the banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in an anti-terrorism case.
The court of Chittagong Judicial Magistrate Hossain Reza granted the two-day remand to each after the Hathazari police prayed for a five-day remand, court sources said.
The JMB men are- Naimur Rahman Noyon, 25, Faisal Mahmud, 26, and Showkot Rasel, 26. All are students of Physics Department at Chittagong University.
 On December 26 last year, Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted separate drives in the city and district and arrested the three JMB men from different areas.
Later, based on the information provided by the arrestees, the DB police raided a rented house at Amanbazar area under Hathazari upazila and recovered powerful firearms, huge explosives and bomb making materials. Police filed two cases– one under Arms Act and another under Explosives Act–in this connection, sources said.
